OBX Realty Group| Outer Banks Continues Strong Summer Season
The Outer Banks vacation rental market is back after 2 years of declining numbers. So far 2010 has been a banner year for rental companies as well as local business and restaurants. For those waiting to book a rental house at the last second hoping to get deep discounts, forget about it. Most rental companies are at 100% capacity!! I have had over a dozen people call me in the last few weeks wanting to know if I can help them find a house to rent in August and all I can say is sorry nothing available. Also the traffic getting onto the island has started to build around 10am and does not let up until 8pm-9pm on Saturday. Take it from a local, if you are planning to arrive on a Saturday you need to get across the Wright Memorial Bridge before 10am to avoid massive backups. Sunday's are no where near as bad but still you can expect heavy inbound traffic.
Final summer numbers will not be available until November or December but I do not think It will be much of a stretch to say the summer of 2010 will the year the Outer Banks broke out of the recession. Those of us that live here and rely on the summer tourist season to make our living, which is everyone, really appreciate the millions of people that come to the Outer Banks for their summer vacations!! We hope you have a great time and plan on coming back again!!
