Town of Nags Head Beach Nourishment Update, May 28, 2026

Beach Access Impacts

  • Beach access at Bonnett Street (2919 S. Virginia Dare Trail) will be closed beginning tomorrow through approximately noon on Saturday due to beach nourishment construction.
  • Expect the Juncos and Conch Street public beach accesses to be closed intermittently during this portion of the project.

Current Construction Areas

  • Work in the northern end of Nags Head is progressing quickly, with construction expected to move from the northern terminus of the project area at Bonnett Street (2919 South Virginia Dare Trail) south to the submerged pipeline just south of Nags Head Pier, near the 3400 block of South Virginia Dare Trail. From there, work will continue progressing south towards Jennette’s Pier.
  • Beach nourishment construction in south Nags Head is now moving south from near Camelot Street (9700 block of South Old Oregon Inlet Road). This work will terminate approximately 500 feet into Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Once that is complete, construction will return to near Juncos Street (9500 block of South Old Oregon Inlet Road) and progress north as the project proceeds towards Jennette’s Pier.
